Kaira Akita
A Los Angeles-based visionary, Kaira Akita tells stories that make ‘what if we do this differently?’ our new favorite question for every layer of our most liberating identity, life, and work. Previously, she’s best known for scene-giving comedic roles in Tyler Perry’s early hits WHY DID I GET MARRIED and THE FAMILY THAT PREYS, and the Sundance Film Festival selection turned BET’s first scripted series SOMEBODIES. In 2019, Kaira developed her first pilot under Women in Film’s Mentorship Program and has been honored with a Reel Sisters Award (Best Director) and a NAACP Theater Award (Best Supporting Actress).
