Kim Baker

KIM BAKER is a New Zealand-born screenwriter based in Italy since 2018. She holds a BA in Film from Victoria University of Wellington and spent nearly two decades working across New Zealand’s screen and cultural sectors in roles supporting filmmakers, production development, licensing, moving image heritage and digital media. As a producer she secured development funding from the New Zealand Film Commission for feature projects and produced a short film that screened at the Melbourne and New Zealand International Film Festivals. Her screenwriting spans stories set in New Zealand and Italy. She is currently developing her debut feature film Pickling Onions.

Over one hot December day, three women gather to pickle onions, but the ritual draws out long-buried truths about love, trauma, and motherhood that both bind and divide them.
