Piyali Syam
PIYALI SYAM is a New York-based writer, actor, and standup comedian. As a standup comic, she was recently a Finalist in the St. Marks Comedy Competition, won the title of Newcomer Runner Up in the Ladies of Laughter Competition, and received Honorable Mention at the Good Karma North Comedy Festival. She performed her solo show “How Sex Ruined My Life” at the PIT SoloCom Festival. As a writer, her viral comedy sketch “If Succession was Indian” was featured on the Today Show, and her scripts have been named finalists in the Screencraft Comedy Contest, Slamdance, and HollyShorts Screenplay Competitions. She was the recipient of an Asian Women’s Giving Circle grant to produce her short film “Just Potential,” which she wrote, co-produced and is the lead actor in. She is developing JUST POTENTIAL into a feature at HerArts Film Lab.
