Iryna Asonova

Iryna Asonova, born in Khmelnitsky, Ukraine, nurtured her passion for filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. Following the success of her acclaimed shorts like "Cage for the Talking Parrot" and "The Apple Garden," celebrated at esteemed festivals, she transitioned to Producer roles in international productions. Noteworthy projects include the Spanish-French-Ukrainian co-production feature film SEARCHING FOR DALÌ (ESPERANDO A DALÌ), the American-Ukrainian-Greek co-production feature film SATISFACTION, and the Ukrainian historical drama THE ETERNITY MAN, currently in production with principal photography set for completion by summer 2024. Currently, she is dedicating her creative energy to her debut feature film HOMELESS UNICORNS as Writer/Director, a pivotal milestone in her career trajectory.

 

HOMELESS UNICORNS (feature film)
Amid the turmoil of war in Ukraine, a family torn apart by conflict is forced to separate, with a mother and her two young daughters fleeing to Latvia, leaving their father behind. As the father remains in Ukraine, committed to aiding others in the evacuation from the warzone, the film unfolds through the poignant perspective of an eight-year-old girl, capturing the heart-wrenching tragedy of their journey while shedding light on the resilience and compassion found amidst a nation in crisis.
